Visit of Prof. Ajit Mohanty and Prof. Hirendra Nath Ghosh to the Center of Excellence in Nano Science and Technology, Berhampur University

 

The Center of Excellence in Nano Science and Technology for Development of Sensors at Berhampur University, Odisha, had the honor of hosting two eminent scientific leaders on November 1, 2025  Professor Ajit Kumar Mohanty, Secretary to the Government of India, Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission, and former Director of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), along with Professor Hirendra Nath Ghosh, Director of the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER).

During their tour, the distinguished guests explored our laboratories and research infrastructure, gaining firsthand insight into the innovative work being carried out by our faculty, researchers, and students. They expressed particular appreciation for the development of our non-invasive HbA1c monitoring kit  a pioneering effort aimed at transforming diabetes management   through patient  friendly, needle  free technology. The visitors commended the potential societal impact of this research and encouraged the team to continue pursuing translational innovations that bridge the gap between laboratory discoveries and real world healthcare solutions.

The guests were equally impressed by our state-of-the-art facilities in quantum optics, highlighting the importance of such advanced infrastructure in positioning the center   at the forefront of emerging scientific domains. They acknowledged the center’s commitment to fostering interdisciplinary research and nurturing the next generation of scientists.

A brief but  productive meeting   was held with the visiting dignitaries to discuss future research directions and collaborative opportunities . Their valuable insights and strategic advice will help guide our upcoming initiatives , strengthening our mission to develop cutting-edge sensor technologies that address national and global challenges.

Adding a meaningful and symbolic touch to their visit , Professor Mohanty  and Professor Ghosh planted  saplings within the laboratory premises . This gesture underscored a shared commitment to sustainability  and the cultivation of a greener future , aligning scientific progress with environmental responsibility.
