Distinguished Alumni and Marie Curie Fellow Dr. Mousam Charan Sahu Visits Berhampur University, Delivers Invited Talk

The Center of Excellence in Nano Science and Technology for Development of Sensors (CoENSTds), Department of Physics, Berhampur University, was honored to welcome one of its distinguished alumni, Dr. Mousam Charan Sahu, who is currently a Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellow at the Complutense University of Madrid, Spain.

Dr. Sahu, a former student of Berhampur University who completed his PhD at the Institute of Physics (IOP), Bhubaneswar, has made notable contributions to advanced materials research, with his work being cited in the 2024 Nobel Laureate research. His visit marked a proud moment for the department, reflecting the global academic footprint of our alumni.

During his visit, Dr. Sahu toured the laboratory facilities and expressed deep appreciation for the remarkable growth and transformation of the Center since his student days. He commended the laboratory’s advanced research ecosystem, modern infrastructure, and the strong culture of scientific inquiry that continues to nurture young researchers.

As part of the visit, Dr. Sahu delivered an invited talk titled “Mimicking Neural Complexity: Leveraging the Metal Insulator Transition in Rare-earth Nickelates”, held at the CIC Seminar hall on December 29, 2025. The lecture provided valuable insights into emerging frontiers of condensed matter physics and neuromorphic materials, inspiring students and faculty alike. His presentation fostered engaging discussions and encouraged scholars to explore interdisciplinary approaches in next-generation electronic and quantum materials research.

Beyond the lecture, Dr. Sahu interacted warmly with research scholars, sharing his academic journey, international research experiences, and guidance on building impactful scientific careers. His words served as a powerful motivation for aspiring scientists to pursue excellence with dedication and curiosity.

The Center of Excellence takes immense pride in the achievements of its alumni and remains committed to strengthening such academic connections that enrich our research environment. Dr. Sahu’s visit not only celebrated past associations but also reaffirmed the Center’s steady progress toward becoming a hub of globally relevant scientific research.
